You cannot apply the extension for 3yrs with new employer as your labor and i140 are tied to old employer.

I agree, if you have applied for I-485, F1 is not a good idea. I wasn't aware of the OP's GC situation.
Editing post: It seems that the OP applied for I-140 late last year, and the country of chargeability is India (public profile). So, in this case, F1 is probably a better bet.

My 485 got approved on 8/8/8 , where as wife's case is still pending , my wife called the 1.800 number , they told it has been assigned to the officer , and he has to make a decision.

It's a well-know fact that Senator Kennedy only empathizes with "undocumented workers", and feels they deserve to be given "a path to citizenship" (amnesty by any other name is still amnesty... ) - understandably so given the demographics and numbers.

Our immigration laws are clearly broken, and stronger border enforcement alone will not fix them.

Unfortunately, this needed legislation has now stalled in the Senate, which is enormously disappointing for Congress and the country. But the battle is far from over. I'm in it for the long haul, and Fm certain that, in the end, we will prevail. Ignoring the problem will not solve it. We cannot afford to do nothing, especially in this post-9/11 era. I am on h1b EB3 and my 485 is pending since July 2007. I will get married soon and my wife is on F1. It seems I'd better to get married before my 485 approval in order to add her into my 485, right? (My PD is 2004 July which is not current. ) If this is true, since my PD is not current, can I file her 485 now, just add to my 485 or I have to wait until my PD becomes current again?

I did have a LUD on 09/05 and 09/08 and then RFE was issued. Responded to the RFE on 09/22 . LUD on 09/22, 09/23 ,09/29 and 09/30.

Can you please tell us what the RFE was about....Did you use AC21.
Me and my spouse both have RFE....so i dont know what to expect. And I have used AC21 and changed jobs....I am just hoping it is not related to this.

You should analyze this situation based both on what it does for your career and immigration prospects.
Let's say you accept the EB3 employment with the big company. Does that get you closer to where you want to be 5 years down the line?
Can you not find an equivalent company or another job at this consulting company that would be eligible for EB2? This would be the best of both worlds.
Life is about trade-offs. You've got to make the best choice for yourself weighing the pros and cons of the situation.
If you value your career over your GC and think this is the best you can do right now, by all means jump. Otherwise, be patient and find the combination of EB2 sponsorship at another more rewarding role.

I got my passport renewed last year by mail. It took 7 - 8 weeks to get the old and new passports.
I am sorry for posting in here, but I was wondering if someone actually went in person to the Houston Consulate to get their passport renewed. Also, do we need to have any reason to attend in person at the Consulate such as emergency, etc.
I am from India and my passport is expiring on Aug 17. I read before in the forum that it is better to go in person to renew the passport. Any experiences please let me know.
