Guys, Please don't fight.
We cannot get far with this EB2 Vs EB3 fight.
We understand EB3's situation, however pitting one against another will not help.
Sanhari: why not take your efforts one step ahead and work for fixes like visa recapture. That would be permanent solution and doesnot favor any particular group. You will be able to get support of EB2 and EB1 folks.
I know IV core is focusing its efforts on CIR. CIR is dead meat or going to be... considering this, is IV core working on any piecemeal reforms? Can somebody from the IV core comment????

My question to you was if no H1B is "permanent" (as you opine), then how can you prove that the AC20 job on H1B is or isn't "permanent?" So if that job is not "permanent," how do you convince/mention that in as RVE-EVL?
Because Future GC job could be same job on H-1B, only difference being on H-1B your job has fixed end date (noted by I-94), and GC job has no fixed end date, hence permanent. It does not make that current job on H-1B permanent.

I also did the same thing. I got the scan copies from my lawyer. Print out will work (IO will verify yr name on receipt with yr photo Id).

First, switch to a completely unrelated job after 180 days of I485 filing,
then, switch back to similar job when my priority date becomes current or close to becoming current.
Does USCIS check what other jobs have I done during the entire adjustee period or it is only concerned about the job at the time of adjudication?

Is suing the only option? USCIS could be making unintended mistake. We want to get clarification in a smoother and faster process before the flood gates open in October.
There should be some other legal-process to get written clarifications/interpretation etc on the law (like some kind of AILA discussion with CIS).
But my friend, CIS has a very very thick skin... So the only language they understand is suit.

being anguished about the situation of not getting receipts and even worse - not being able to track or check status...I emailed the attorney and asked if he could check for encashed checks or if their firm is getting july 2nd receipts...

I am July Filer too I have not received evn a single receipt for anything. I called USCIS they said it is taking from 90 to 120 days so wait and call.
I had long dely in gettting my 485/EAD/AP receipts from USCIS and I wrote to my local congressman. It really worked and got the receipt numbers from congressman office.
Try to write to your local congressman and explain your situation in one page and give them your package tracking information.

i have been a active member for quite some time but i wasnt aware of the financial sacrifices IV Core team was making until I read the businessweek article. i have been contributing monthly recurring payments and one time contributions as and when necessary.
Thanks to whoever started this topic to refund some of the expenses core team has met. Thanks to IV core team for their unselfish acts and sacrifices.
i shall see if i can contribute more in the near future to this fund.

For all those who are waiting...I would suggest one more thing, if your file is not touched. My lawyer had sent an email to NSC on Aug 2. I believe that along with my SR might have done the trick.....Sheela Murthy was my lawyer....that too might have helped....Who know what works....but we can all try.....Hope all who are stuck, get their GC by end of this month.

These discussions about what you and i think about whether Bs or Ms is more important is totally pointless. First off this bill has yet to be brought up for discussion. Secondly any bill bringing any relief is good at this point in time.
We are arguing and debating endlessly about a bill that may never even see daylight. I think the more important thing to do is, try and get this bill to be brought up for discussion.
Simple example. If there are 20 people in the queue ahead of u and a the shopkeeper opens another fresh queue, whether ur part of queue 1 or queue 2 ur still looking at a smaller queue. Who is to say which queue will be longer? Do we have any stats that say out of the 300,000 legals waiting how may have and have not an advanced degree. For all you know the queue with Just the bachelors may end up being shorter. I am sure a LOT of us just on IV have come here on F1 and then went on to get H1s.
Lastly i have a question about SKIL. When you say people with advanced degrees will not be counted against the quota, what EXACTLY does that mean? Does it mean that ppl with advanced degrees who have Not been able to apply for 485 can now apply regardless of PD? OR does it mean that the PD still applies but people who have applied will move quicker as they are not counted against the quota?
